Port:

  • External modems should be on COM1 or COM2
  • Internal modems should be on COM3 or COM4

*** Modems can not share an IRQ (Interrupt) with a serial mouse. If your mouse is on COM1, the modem CAN NOT be on COM3. If your mouse is on COM2, the modem CAN NOT be on COM4. ***

Maximum speed:

  • 115,200 for 56,000 bps modems
  • 38,400 or 57,600 for 33,600 bps modems
  • 19,200 for anything slower
pr_con.gif (6482 bytes) On the Connection tab:

Connection preferences:

  • Data bits: 8
  • Parity: None
  • Stop bits: 1 (one)

Call preferences:

  • Wait for dial tone: Checked
  • Cancel the call: checked/60 seconds
  • Disconnect if idle: checked/20 minutes

Click the Advanced... button.
