On the General tab: Port:
- External modems should be on COM1 or COM2
- Internal modems should be on COM3 or COM4
*** Modems can not share an IRQ (Interrupt) with a
serial mouse. If your mouse is on COM1, the modem CAN NOT be on COM3. If your mouse is on
COM2, the modem CAN NOT be on COM4. ***
Maximum speed:
- 115,200 for 56,000 bps modems
- 38,400 or 57,600 for 33,600 bps modems
- 19,200 for anything slower
