Press, Start then Control panel.
From the Control panel double click Phone and Modem Options. |

This can be left as is but if wish to change the
dialing rules, press edit to do so. |

You should see your modem in this screen - to view the
modems settings click Properties. |

If you wish to find out if your modem is responding, click
Query Modem. |

In the Extra Initialization Command box, this is
where you type modem strings. |
